Gettysburg Arrests and Busted Records
Gettysburg is the Adams County seat. It is also the county's largest borough, home to 7,106 residents per the 2020 Census. The Gettysburg Police Department answers municipal calls and runs investigations inside borough limits. County bookings happen elsewhere. They occur at the Adams County Adult Correctional Complex, or ACACC, at 45 Major Bell Lane in Gettysburg. County paperwork sometimes calls the same facility Adams County Prison.
A borough arrest and a county booking are not the same thing. Some encounters end with a citation, a summons, a transfer, or a release, and no ACACC card ever appears. An ACACC result only shows time spent in local custody. The jail photographs and classifies each new arrival, and the court docket carries the case from there. That split matters when a police post and a custody record each tell part of one story.
Where Gettysburg Busted Mugshots Appear
Start with official channels. Each one answers a distinct question. Gettysburg Police CRIMEWATCH serves as the borough's public activity and arrest-publication outlet. ACACC is the custody side, and it comes into play once a borough arrest turns into a jail intake. Neither source guarantees a photo for every encounter, booking, or record. To follow a charge past the booking stage, the court docket is the place to go.
| Channel | What it covers | Photo status | Access and limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gettysburg Police CRIMEWATCH arrests | Department arrest posts and municipal public information | No standing promise for every post | Official borough channel, not a jail roster |
| ACACC Jail Search | Current county custody and released entries exposed by the search | Image cards are visible in the official portal | Search by name; a missing result does not prove no arrest |
| ACACC 24-hour and 72-hour views | Recent county intake and release activity | Image, intake date, release date, charge, and bond cards | Rolling windows, not permanent archives |
| Pennsylvania UJS | Case docket and later court action | No county booking-card function | Official court follow-through |
| Mugshots.com Adams County page | County-wide third-party aggregation or news material | Not an official publication standard | Unofficial, potentially stale, and not a Gettysburg-specific feed |
The Gettysburg Police CRIMEWATCH arrest section is the official municipal source displayed here. It documents department posts. Read it with care, though. It is not the full ACACC population, and it does not promise a booking image for every name listed.
Treat a public police post as the tool for spotting the agency and the event. Turn to the county custody search only when the person may have been booked into ACACC.
Find Busted Gettysburg Booking Records
A name search works best when it traces the path of the event. Start with the agency that likely made the arrest. Move on to ACACC only if detention seems possible. For the county-wide roster, feed, records-request, and custody details, the Adams County booking record path pulls it together in one place.
- Check the Gettysburg Police CRIMEWATCH department and arrest pages for a borough post, date, or case context.
- Open the ACACC Jail Search and try the last name, then add a first name if the result is too broad. Use the released option when it is available.
- Review the rolling 24-hour view, then the 72-hour view if the event may have fallen outside the shorter window.
- For a current local-custody question, call ACACC at 717-334-7671 rather than assuming an empty card resolves the question.
- Use UJS to follow the docket and disposition after identifying the likely case.
An ACACC card's release date marks the end of that custody episode and nothing more. Did the person go home, transfer, enter another system, or have charges dismissed? The card cannot say. For anyone later sentenced to state custody, try the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections locator. Keep in mind that it covers state custody, not recent Gettysburg arrests.
Note: A borough citation or release without county detention may never create an ACACC booking card or a publicly visible photograph.
Gettysburg Arrest Log Boundaries
For a borough its size, Gettysburg's CRIMEWATCH portal is remarkably thorough. Content sorts into Incidents, Cases, Warrants, Arrests, News, Broadcasts, and Events. The historical daily logs list a date, time, general location, event label, and traffic-stop count. The department's public-record policy also spells out which fields can appear for an arrest. Those include time, location, case number, name, birth date, and charges, all subject to legal and safety limits.
The daily log has firm boundaries, though. Gettysburg Police states that published entries leave out follow-up investigations, building checks, foot patrols, and court time. So it captures selected daily activity, not every police action or every person hauled to the county jail. Juvenile rules, confidential-victim protections, safety concerns, and open investigations can each narrow what the public sees.
The Gettysburg Police CRIMEWATCH department portal gathers all of these municipal publication routes in one official spot.
Those tabs help you tell a department notice apart from the county's custody record. That distinction matters most when an event wraps up without any jail intake at all.
Gettysburg Police Records Requests
Three custodians can hold three different pieces. An incident report, a Gettysburg arrest-log entry, and an ACACC booking photograph do not always sit in one office. For a borough police record, send a focused Right-to-Know request to the Borough Open Records Officer. Name the person. Keep the date range tight, specify the record type, and add enough event detail for staff to locate the file. A jail image from a county intake goes through the county RTK or ACACC route instead.

Sara L. Stull, Right-to-Know Officer
59 East High Street
Gettysburg, PA 17325

Use the Gettysburg Borough RTK request form for the borough submission route.
Pennsylvania agencies generally answer written requests within five business days. A permitted extension can stretch that to 30 calendar days, and even a well-detailed request may still face denial or redaction under an exception. The borough form opens a channel, but it does not promise that every investigative or photo record gets released.
For everyday department contact, Gettysburg Police lists 59 East High Street, an administrative line at 717-334-1168, and weekday hours of 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding holidays. After hours, Adams County Control at 717-334-8101 is the listed non-emergency route.
When Gettysburg Busted Cards Post
A card on the Adams County Adult Correctional Complex site is a booking record. It is not a timestamp for the arrest itself. The county handbook lays out the intake steps: processing, an institution number, a photograph, a search, and classification. So a borough police notice can appear before the county card does. In practice, the card may lag the street encounter by a stretch.
Two official pages cover the listings. The 24-hour and 72-hour views each show an image, intake date, release date, charge, and bond. The county publishes no minute-by-minute posting schedule. There is no fixed online retention period either. The combined Intake/Release label matters, too. Someone freshly booked and someone heading out of custody can sit in the same moving window at once.
A card can vanish once the window advances. Even so, the record itself may still rest with the custodian. For how a case ended up, the court docket is the better place to look.
Note: The 72-hour filter reaches farther back than the same-day view, but it is not a guaranteed three-day public archive.
Gettysburg Booking Custody Boundaries
ACACC handles county custody only. PA DOC covers people sentenced to state prison or living under state supervision. Federal and immigration custody run on entirely separate systems. A transfer or a detainer can pull someone out of the county portal while the case itself keeps moving elsewhere.
Tracking a possible federal placement? Use the Bureau of Prisons inmate locator. Suspecting immigration custody? Try the ICE Online Detainee Locator. Neither one carries Adams County booking photos. Watch one trap in particular: some ICE results list an Adams County Correctional Center in Mississippi, a different facility entirely from the local complex.
When the goal is a custody-change notice rather than a record card, PA SAVIN sends alerts for county jail, state prison, and state parole events. It is an alert service, not a blotter and not an image feed.
Gettysburg Arrest News, With Limits
Local arrest news in Gettysburg runs on two layers. Borough police post directly through CRIMEWATCH. The Gettysburg Connection police blotter republishes some dated activity-log entries and points readers back to the department for anything more. For selected police and court stories, the Gettysburg Times Police and Fire section is another route.
These outlets add context rather than a custody determination. A news item can leave out a later dismissal, amendment, or transfer. The Connection blotter is not a booking-photo card system, either. The official trail always leads back to the police agency, ACACC, or the court docket. County-wide reporting patterns and their limits are covered in Mugshots in the News.
The Mugshots.com Adams County page sits a step behind all of these. It spreads county-wide rather than tracking verified Gettysburg postings. Third-party material can also linger online after the official record changes.
